Her journey to Islam began during college, when a religious studies course sparked a deeper interest in understanding different faiths. What began as curiosity gradually developed into years of learning, questioning, research and reflection.
In 2023, after spending years exploring Islam and seeking to understand its beliefs and teachings for herself, Hailee embraced Islam.
Today, she uses her platform to discuss Islam, address misconceptions and encourage thoughtful conversations about faith. As a Peace Umrah partner, she also hopes to help other Muslims discover the meaning and significance of making Umrah.
Hailee’s interest in Islam began while she was studying at university and taking a religious studies course. The course encouraged her to explore different faiths and traditions. As she learned more about Islam, her initial curiosity developed into a much deeper personal search. Around the same time, Hailee met the man who would later become her husband, who is Muslim and from Egypt. She occasionally asked him questions about what she was learning, but she also spent considerable time researching and learning independently. She watched lectures, listened to discussions between Christian and Muslim scholars, read widely, asked questions and continued exploring. Rather than simply accepting someone else’s explanation, Hailee wanted to understand Islam for herself.
Over time, more of what Hailee learned about Islam continued to align with the understanding of God that she had always carried with her. She took her time, continuing to learn and reflect before making such an important decision. After years of learning and personal reflection, Hailee officially embraced Islam in 2023. Her journey is a reminder that becoming Muslim does not necessarily happen overnight. For some people, it can be a gradual process of asking questions, searching for answers and following where that search leads.
In September 2025, Hailee performed Umrah with her husband, her children, her sister-in-law and her nephew.
For Hailee, the experience was deeply personal.
After spending years learning about Islam and eventually embracing the faith, she was able to stand in the place at the heart of so much of what she had studied and reflected upon.
The experience brought an overwhelming sense of joy and emotion. As she approached the Kaaba, Hailee remembers crying multiple times.
For her, Umrah was far more than simply travelling to another country.
It was an opportunity to experience, in person, places that had previously existed in her life primarily through books, lectures, conversations and imagination.
The experience of seeing the Kaaba and being present in Makkah made many aspects of Hailee’s Islamic journey feel even more real.
After years of asking questions, researching Islam and eventually becoming Muslim, standing before the Kaaba represented a deeply meaningful moment in her journey.
Umrah became not simply a journey she had learned about, but one she had personally experienced.
Hailee’s personal experience is one of the reasons she is passionate about helping other Muslims discover Umrah.
In particular, she hopes to encourage converts and new Muslims who may have spent years learning about Islam before considering the journey themselves.
She understands what it can feel like to approach Islam with questions, search for answers and gradually develop a deeper understanding of the faith.
For converts especially, Umrah can be a deeply meaningful opportunity to physically experience places that have played such an important role in Islamic history.

As a convert, I spent years learning about Islam before I ever stood in front of the Kaaba. Being there and experiencing that moment for myself was something I will never be able to fully put into words. I want other Muslims — especially converts — to know that they deserve the opportunity to experience that connection too.
